Germaine Greer: “Women have no idea how much men hate them.”
Never have and never will allow this to happen to me.
As much as I agree with the basic premise as far as why this is included in porn, the tone of this whole post (article + comment) honestly feels shaming towards those of us (women) who actually enjoy this. Like, I’m actually forcing myself to post this despite the fact that right now I feel actively ashamed to admit that I enjoy it when a guy comes on me. (via porcupine-girl)
This isn’t about you, or what you like.
It’s about what this act represents to the men who consume this kind of porn, and what that says about our patriarchal, pornified culture.
Yeeeeeah like what an individual person likes sexually isn’t above analysis, especially within the greater social context. I mean, ever asked yourself why you like when a guy comes on you? It’s the same type of thing, people never seem to want to ask themselves why they enjoy certain things within the context of sex, as if that topic is somehow sacred or off limits. I think it’s because a lot of the time men (and women! and everyone in between and outside of that!) don’t want to have to admit that some sexual acts, particularly within our current cultural context, are about domination, control, and humiliation in a really violating way.
You’re not being shamed when you’re asked to think critically about the things you like.
This is a very important process for male/penis-having feminists and allies to feminism: people who want to do something with/about their male privilege have, first and foremost, a lot of unlearning to do, such as unlearning violent and degrading sexual norms and learning to find things sexy that are also empowering. Because seriously, this is not a sexual landscape I want to be a part of.
